Frans Carel Te Water built this beautiful Karoo house in 1886. The house has been restored to its former glory, with a mixture of modern facilities and Karoo antiques, and has lots of character and evokes memories of a bygone era of Karoo grandeur.
Eight air-conditioned rooms are available, as well as satellite TV, and a lounge with a cosy fireplace. Two of the rooms are separate flats, originally built as communion rooms (nagmaalkamers) for use by local farmers, decades ago, on their traditional monthly visit to the town.
Self catering facilities are available, as well as traditional Karoo meals on request.

These antique stone corbelled houses appear only in the Karoo in an attractive small area. They were the first houses built by the Voortrekkers in the early 1800's. Due to a shortage of building materials such as wood in the Karoo they built the houses entirely of stone, even the roof, which was well insulated, being warm
in winter and deliciously cool in summer.
Since most of them had fallen into disrepair, we decided to restore the one on our farm, Osfontein and make it available as a guesthouse for tourists, so that they could go back in historical time.
Everyone who sleeps here is delighted about this unique experience and wonder, as they look up at the stone roof, who lived there and under what circumstances in those days.

This historic corbelled guest house was once home to the Great Grandparents of the present owners, Piet & Charmaine Botha.
The house is equipped either for self catering or on a "bed & breakfast" basis. Dinner is also available.
It is romantically set in typical Karoo landscape and can sleep 4/6 people comfortably.
As is befitting a house such as this, lighting is by candles / gas lamps to retain the atmosphere, whilst a gas fridge and stove are installed.
For absolute peace, tranquility and security, no better retreat will be found.
There is no cellphone reception in the vicinity of the house so your stay can not be interrupted - but should there be an emergency, your hosts can be contacted to pass on messages to you.
The house oozes the history of the area and has been decorated by Charmaine with much love and warmth.
Braai (bar-b-que) facilities are available in the "asbosskerm" which is only found in the Karoo.
