Medley House was built in 1906 as the residence of the Brakpan Gold Mines' General Manager and borders on the Royal Oak Golf Course. This lovely Victorian home, banqueting hall and pub hosted numerous parties. It became the hub of the wealthy mining glitterati at the time
In the 70's after the closure of the mine it became a restaurant "The Peppercorn" once again an icon on the East Rand. In 1997 the property went on auction and was sold to a private entity. At first it was used as a family home, but gradually turned into the East Rand's Premier Banqueting Centre, Conference Venue and Guest Lodge.
